My client is looking for a person to lead and manage their design department for their plant in South West, Poland. This is an excellent career opportunity to work with a world leading engineering & aerospace organization supplying a majority of the world’s civilian and military aerospace products. The person will be responsible for the mechanical engineering team who design mechanical, electromechanical and hydraulic components and systems. The team is involved in pure design from concept / proposal to execution.
The Mechanical Design Manager will have the following key responsibilities:
Support and oversee all phases of design projects including:
- Risk analysis
- Concept and design
- Detail Design
- Material selection
- Design modeling, simulations and analysis
- Preparation of test plans and reports for design prototypes
- Prototype testing
- Presentation of test results to customers
- Cooperation with other departments and suppliers on design projects
- Root cause corrective action investigations
- Technical customer support
Strict adherence to established internal design processes
Implementation and improvement of design processes
Responsibility for technical content of the design
Ensure on-time delivery for all milestones
Manage the recruitment of staff
Hold regular team meetings / Mentor and implement training programmes
Close cooperation with US based engineering teams
Ensure access to all necessary resources and tools required for new product developments
Support for all internal and external customers
Experience:
BS or MSc in Engineering – mechanical, aerospace or similar, 10 - 15 years experience, with at least 5 years leading mechanical design teams
Minimum 10 years experience in designing mechanical, electromechanical and hydraulic components and systems
Creativity in solving problems
Good written and oral communication skills in English
Knowledge of and understanding material science. Practical knowledge in at least one of the software packages Fluent, Star CD Fluid, Matlab/Simulink, Ansys, Patran/Nastran.
CAD experience with Unigraphics is preferred.
